Night Nurse and The Shipping Forecast

May 4, 2015

image

A year in fleeting minutes.
A hand upon the phone.
A senator on the pavement.
A savage in the home.
Between the carnage of Carthage.
And the sophistry of Rome.
A father.
Half a parent.
And a mother.
Never home.
Whoever knew.
The bedbound child.
Knew the man.
Who drank alone.
